Storyline :
Caltech seismologist Dr. Lawrence Hayes and his colleague Dr. Kim Park is testing models predicting a new earthquake in Hoover Dam, when a pass and the first unknown fault breaks, causing a 7.1-magnitude earthquake that demolishes the dam; The park is killed immediately after the child is rescued. Hayes realizes that the entire San Andreas fault is shifting and will soon lead to a series of major earthquakes that will potentially destroy erroneous cities. He starts running with his students Alexey and Fobe and reporter Serena Johnson to warn the California population. When the 9.1-magnitude earthquake hits Los Angeles, Ray Gaines, the los Angeles fire department’s helicopter-rescue pilot, finds himself rescued by his wife Emma, going through a divorce. His daughter, Blake, is trapped in Emma’s boyfriend, Daniel Riddick’s office, when the same earthquake arrives in San Francisco and is abandoned by him. Ben Taylor, a British engineer who is looking for employment, and his younger brother Oli rescue Blake and they reach Chinatown by calling their parents successfully for help.
